Huawei’s P20 Pro came shocking the market with a revolutionary triple set camera package. Yes, its the brand new flagship from Huawei family and a competitor for Galaxy s9 plus and of course iPhone X.

P20 Pro

Unlike last years all metal built P10, we have a glass built with a metal frame which gives an elegant look and durability. The Twilight colour model is definitely an eye candy one which is a lovely gradient of purple and bluish green. The P20 Pro feels solid and sturdy with round edges and curved back. Unlike last years splash proof P20 Pro comes with IP67*(water and dust resistant) rating so don’t freak out even when it slips into your pool. It goes with the new trend of omitting the 3.5mm jack which is essential in my opinion although we can use type C headphones and wireless ones. Should I point out that it has a camera bump!

The screen is 6.1inch 2040 x 1080 Full HD AMOLED panel with new 18:9 ratio. It adapts the notch design trend set by the iPhone X which includes a speaker come eyepiece and the selfie clicker. Notch is the 2018 way to go bezel-less and keep the selfie cam, sensors and earpiece etc. It’s weird that it has a fingerprint sensor on the front situated in a big bottom chin(compared to the side bezels). The screen is pretty bright and vibrant for a flagship.

The specs inside are up to the mark for a flagship. It has the Kirin 970 octa-core chipset comparable to the Snapdragon 845. P20 pro comes with 6GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. It comes with Android 8.1 with emUI on top. The UI packs a lot of features resembles the Samsung’s TouchWiz.

triple cameraCAMERA

Guys we have seen single, dual back and front cameras but the p20 pro has a triple rear shooter which grabbed the interest of all geeks out there.

  • 40mp with F1.8, OIS
  • 20mp monochrome with F1.6, OIS
  • 8mp 3x-telephoto with F2.4 and stabilisation

The main sensor is a massive one compared to the other phones on the market. So it provides better low light performance, wider field of view and sharper detail. P20 comes with a super quick laser autofocus and has no shutter lag.The video performance is not up to the mark. It can shoot 4k at 30fps and 1080p at 60fps. The camera lacks object tracking and the predictive focus isn’t that great at business. P20 pro can do slow motion footages at a huge 920fps as the Galaxy S9. The stabilisation is only available at 1080p for 30fps only which is a kind of setback.

The camera also comes with a flair of AI which understands the shooting situation and enhances the image by post-processing according to the scene. It may not be pleasing at all time so you have the provision to toggle it of. It’s one of ‘the’ best cameras out there but I think the Pixel 2 is slightly more consistent performer.

Huawei’s P20 Pro is a great unique flagship with triple cameras comes with a pretty eye-catching design and colour.
